The strata series explores the different types of technologies humans have used to store knowledge. From mnemonic devices tied to the landscape to books and now smartphones, humans have always used devices to contain important knowledge of the world around us.




Strata X was completed in 2022 and measures 2”x4.5”x3.5”

This book is a non adhesive corded rebinding of a collection of Russian thesaurus with leopardwood covers. Edges are hand torn and painted with gouache to mimic strata layers. It is housed in a handmade box with a muskrat skull and inlayed polished stone.
