The strata series explores the different types of technologies humans have used to store knowledge. From mnemonic devices tied to the landscape to books and now smartphones, humans have always used devices to contain important knowledge of the world around us.




Strata XXII was completed in 2023 and measures 2”x3.5”x3.5”

This book is a non adhesive corded rebinding of an English-Latin dictionary riveted onto walnut covers. Edges are hand torn and painted with gouache to mimic strata layers. It is housed in a handmade box with gold tooling detail and housed with a fossilized fern.
